The 6th Forum on City Informatization in the Asia-Pacific Region (CIAPR VI) was held from 18 to 19 October 2006 in Shanghai, China. Focusing on the theme “ICT For a Better Life: The Role of Local Government”, several workshops and seminars were held to explore most concerned issues on ICT for public services, share up-to-date research achievements and serve as a platform for exchange and communication on informatization development between China and other countries. Official participants of the forum included senior central government and local decision makers, representatives from UN, international and non-government organizations, research and academic institutions, private sector and civil society from all over the world.
